April 3, 2022 – St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, located in Pasadena, Maryland is seeking candidates for a full-time Maintenance Worker/Custodian position available immediately. The position is full time (40 hours) with primarily daytime work hours and occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. This position supports the church, rectory, and school facilities for special projects and events, and provides support to parishioners, staff, religious education students, ministries, and groups using the buildings during scheduled hours. The maintenance worker/custodian will ensure building cleanliness, safety, and security and will receive guidance and direction from the Pastor and the Office Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of parish facilities as defined by the pastor
- Performs custodial tasks in support of parish facilities
- Assists with needed maintenance of rectory, parish and school grounds to ensure that they are maintained in a neat and safe manner
- Keeps daily maintenance logs and work reports
- Assists in restocking supplies
- Sets up and prepares facilities and meeting rooms according to event diagrams and plans. Moves furniture, books, file cabinets, tables, and chairs
- Gathers and disposes of trash properly
- Monitors various gauge and temperature settings for refrigerators, freezers, room heating and cooling systems
- Maintains physical security of the complex on scheduled days of the week
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, porches, ramps, and steps
- Uses parish vehicle to purchase work supplies during work hours, as needed, and according to parish purchasing policies
- Performs other duties as requested ie, periodic cleaning, climbing ladders, and changing and replacing light bulbs
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid MD state driver’s license with clean driving record (no more than 3 points)
- Ability to move, load, and unload equipment and supplies weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Experience in minor repair work, cleaning, building, and equipment repair and maintenance
